Friends of Bigfork Fire Department

Due to covid-19 concerns, The Friends of Bigfork Fire Department have cancelled our annual BBQ, tennis, and pickleball tournaments.
We WILL be sponsoring a golf tournament only at Eagle Bend at noon on Friday 9-11-2020.  If you can play please:
  • Contact Teresa Holm at 406-750-9740
  •  Cost is $99 per person
If you can't play please consider making a donation to FofBFD, Box 2333, Bigfork MT 59911.  Non-profit tax id: 84-1721958

The idea for the Friends of Bigfork Fire Department was originally proposed by Bigfork residents Chuck Gough and Joyce Mitchell in 2007, as a way for community members, who could not be active firefighters, to contribute to the department in a meaningful way.

FoBFD is a non-profit (501c-3) organization, dedicated to providing funds (unavailable in the Fire District budget) for the safety and training of our FD volunteers. We are made up of many enthusiastic hands of neighbors and friends.

FoBFD began raising money by organizing an annual fall fundraiser on the Friday of or before 9 -11. This affair is called the “FUNdraiser BBQ for the Bigfork Fire Department", featuring; dinner and drinks, and social gathering, which gives the community the opportunity to meet our FD volunteers.

The event includes the “Niner-Niner” golf tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Course, along with tennis and pickle-ball tournaments at the Montana Athletic Club-Bigfork.

The Bigfork community has participated every year, and contributed most generously. Over a quarter of a million dollars has been raised so far, allowing us to build a ‘Live Fire Training Building’ at the Echo Lake Station. This building provides the actual conditions firefighters experience when entering a structure engulfed in flames.

We are currently involved in the purchase of equipment to enhance the safety of our firefighters and EMT’s when they respond to you in your time of need; ‘Thermal Imager’, ‘Stair Chair’, ‘Powered Cot’.

Please consider contributing to, or volunteering with FoBFD. We’d love to have you in our organization.  Call Jim Sticka at 406-837-2294 or email fofbfd@gmail.com for more information.
