FLATHEAD COUNTY​ residents may now obtain a burn permit for one calendar year, January 1 - December 31.  Burning is still prohibited July 1 - September 30 due to fire season.  The permit will need to be activated each day the permit holder plans on burning.  Permit holders will not be able to activate their burn permits if ventilation or fire conditions are not favorable.  

Permits are not required for recreational campfires measuring less than 48-inches in diameter.

ALL Lake County Residents in the Bigfork Fire District will be using the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes' Division of Fire burn Permit system during the months of May and June. Burn Permits are free and can be issued through the link above STARTING ON MAY 1ST and are valid from the day it is issued until June 30th.

Once you have obtained your burn permit please do the following before burning:
  1. Please check the Montana/Idaho Airshed website each day you intend to burn. The link is http://mi.airshedgroup.org
  2. Please call Your Local Dispatch if you live in Missoula or Sanders County.
